Well, I will start with some "other interesting items! Here are some pictures of my '70 Etype Jag 2 passenger coupe which was my passion before the Lotus. I acquired it in 1989, test drove it, bought it, and immediately started a total ground up restoration which I finished in 1994. I did all of the work myself...bodywork (all lead-no plastic), mechanical, interior, etc., etc., etc. except for the paint. The paintwork was done by a good friend who is an outstanding painter, however we had problems after the paint was applied and the car reassembled! After months of negotiations, DuPont ended up paying me $4000 to go away, but I had to settle for less than perfect paint...being the perfectionist that I am, I finally sold the car in 1998 because I was this close to taking the whole thing down to bare metal and repainting it myself...thank god my wife talked me out of that! Anyway, the car is currently in Virginia, where it has recently placed in the high 90's (97points!) in a recent JCNA Concourse Meet..even with the same paint on it!!! I guess I am too critical, however the car was this close to being perfect and it fell short. I had over $28K in new parts into the car and 4 years of my life, so you can understand how disappointed I was!.
I will admit that I thoroughly enjoyed driving the car, but looking back, I am sorry that I spent all of those years into Jags, cause the Lotus does so much more for me than the Jag ever could!! |
