Wing Rehab!
My Curtiss repro V8 wing has been on for several years now, and the paint had started to bubble along the lower edges of the wing..more noticeable on the drivers side.  Well, enough is enough!  I removed it and brought it downcellar for some rehab!  When I sanded down the paint, I found that the gel coat had delaminated which caused the paint to bubble up over the delaminated spots on the wing...I sanded the wing down with 80 grit paper which may seem pretty coarse, however necessary in order to use FeatherFill over the wing surface.  The damaged spots in the gelcoat were dug out and then filled with Duraglas, which is a waterproof filler (necessary in order to keep the bubbles from reappearing).  Featherfill will be used over the "damaged" portions of the wing, as well as on the entire top section of it...I never was totally pleased with the "flatness" of the wing.  I board sanded the surface level, and will follow with two coats of Featherfill on the top and the sides.  After sanding that, I will follow with one or two coats of non-sandable primer/sealer and base coats of black to cover.  That will be followed by 4 coats of clear, which will be wetsanded flat and buffed out.
Here's the wing in process of sanding and filling...prior to Featherfill...for those who are not familiar with the product, Featherfill is a catalized Polyester Primer/Surfacer which is  pretty much the  equivalent of spraying on a coat of gelcoat.
Here's some of the spots of separated gelcoat......
